Frequently Asked Questions

No. In fact, 401k services are available to all DynamicHR clients, not just PEO clients.

When automatic enrollment is enabled, new employees are opted into the 401(k) at a default contribution rate when they join. They can adjust or opt out at any time. It’s one of the most effective ways to boost participation without putting the burden on employees to sign up on their own.

Employees have access to a range of investment options across different risk levels and asset classes. Additionally, your DynamicHR team can walk you through what’s available during your setup conversation.

DynamicHR does. Annual filings, nondiscrimination testing, contribution reporting, and required employee notices are all managed on your behalf. As a result, you don’t need a separate plan administrator or third-party vendor.

Yes. Because DynamicHR pools clients together, you get access to group-level pricing and administration that would be out of reach for most small businesses on their own. Employer contributions are also tax-deductible, which helps offset the cost.

Employees own their vested contributions and can roll them over to another plan when they leave. Furthermore, DynamicHR handles the administrative side of separations so you don’t have to coordinate it manually.

Setup timelines vary based on your company size and current benefits situation. In general, your DynamicHR team will coordinate everything and keep you informed throughout the process. Reach out to get a realistic timeline for your specific situation.

Yes. Employee support is part of the service. As a result, your team members can reach out directly with questions about their account, contributions, or investment options without it coming back to you.

Michigan is working toward a retirement savings mandate. House Bill 5336, introduced in the Michigan Legislature in December 2025, would require private-sector employers to provide employees access to a retirement plan, either through a state-run program or a qualified private plan.

A 401(k) administered through DynamicHR would satisfy that requirement. While the bill hasn’t been signed into law yet, Michigan businesses that set up a private 401(k) now are ahead of the mandate and won’t need to scramble when it passes.

Through DynamicHR, your 401(k) is priced through a pooled PEO model. This means your business shares plan administration costs with other Michigan employers, giving you access to group-level pricing that standalone small business plans can’t match.

Employer contributions are tax-deductible. Furthermore, if you’re setting up a new plan, SECURE 2.0 makes new plans eligible for up to $16,500 in IRS tax credits over the first three years. For most Metro Detroit and Michigan small businesses, the net cost is significantly lower than expected. Reach out to our team for a quote based on your employee count and plan design.

DynamicHR is based in Auburn Hills, MI and primarily serves small businesses throughout Metro Detroit and Southeast Michigan, including Oakland County, Macomb County, Wayne County, Troy, Pontiac, Southfield, Sterling Heights, Royal Oak, and Detroit.

That said, our 401(k) plan and PEO services are available to businesses anywhere in Michigan and across the United States. No matter where your business is located, you get a dedicated Michigan-based team that knows your plan and is reachable when you need them.
