Late last week, both New York and California announced their plans to raise minimum wage to $15 over the next few years. These states are two of the first to commit to a $15 an hour wage, which will set an example and influence for other states across the country. The article mentions:

Having two states, especially ones as important and large as New York and California, commit to a $15 minimum wage represents a major achievement in the Fight for $15, a movement begun in late 2012 by fast food workers advocating for a $15 an hour minimum wage.
